Tokyo Landscape Architects, Tangshan City

2015

DESCRIPTION:

Working with renowned Japanese garden designer Haruto Kobayashi, LD1 provided conceptual and detailed design services for this “garden of hope”, one of several gardens commemorating the 40th anniversary of the great Tangshan earthquake set  within a larger exposition site and future regional park. The garden is divided into two spaces that use typical elements of traditional Japanese gardens in unique compositions that represent a journey from darkness to hope.

2014-2016

DESCRIPTION:

In cooperation with Zarch Collaboratives LD1 was commissioned by the Public Utilities Board (PUB) to renovate public spaces surrounding the Marina Barrage and Sustainable Singapore Gallery. As the facility serves as an educational and recreational urban destination the spaces are planned to both inform and celebrate the function of water in Singapore. The main entrance has been redeveloped as a garden highlighting the various elements of PUB's ABC (Active, Beautiful, and Clean) Programme for sustainable water management.

CLIENT:

Tanauan  Town

2014

The town of Tanauan on Leyte Island suffered widespread damage and loss of life in Typhoon Haiyan of November 2013. As a representative of the Philippine Association of Landscape Architects LD1 participated in the redesign of the town's central plaza keeping in mind in its design the landscape's unforeseen function as an impromptu gravesite for hundreds of victims of the typhoon.
